CAMP FIRE USA CELEBRATES 97 YEARS OF YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
March 17, 2007, marks Camp Fire USA's 97th birthday.

Camp Fire USA youth members across the country will host numerous birthday events, including service projects, community celebrations and more, to honor our 97 outstanding years.

For more information on the founding and development of Camp Fire USA, go to All About Us.

TEENS FIGHT HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS
At Camp Fire USA's 2003 National Convention in Chicago, Camp Fire USA youth leaders chose hunger and homelessness as the center of their community service efforts for the next two years.

Hundreds of teens gathered at the National Youth Leadership Forum in July 2004, in San Diego to learn how to fight hunger and homelessness in their own communities.

Read more about the hunger and homelessness initiative and the 2004 National Youth Leadership Forum on Camp Fire USA's National Teen Web Site.

NON-TRADITIONAL SUMMER CAMPS REACH OUT TO SPECIAL INTERESTS
It's not the same old song and camp. Today, camp has taken on a whole new look and feel-especially in Camp Fire USA. Campers may ride a horse or paddle a canoe, but they are just as likely to experience "non-traditional" camps that combine conventional camping activities with uniquely themed programs. Drama, technology, science and other special interests are among a growing number of popular camps offered by Camp Fire USA councils. Still others focus on physical or medical challenges, the grieving process and substance abuse prevention.

To find out more about "non-traditional" Camp Fire USA camps offered from coast to coast, or for more information about our innovative camping programs, go to camp.
