GOT CAMP FIRE USA CANDY?
Camp Fire USA alumni, supporters and friends can now get
their favorite Camp Fire USA candy all year long and support
local programs and youth.
(Kansas City, Mo.) - Did you love Almond Roca®
Buttercrunch as a kid? Ever wonder how you can get your
hands on some delicious P-Nuttles? Perhaps you just crave
sweet treats that support a great cause?
Beginning today, candy lovers across the country
can satisfy those memories and cravings while helping today's
kids become tomorrow's leaders-simply by purchasing Camp
Fire USA candy online!
The Camp Fire USA Candy Sale is a decades-old
tradition for the 94-year-old national youth development
organization. Since the early '50s, generations of Camp
Fire boys and girls have dutifully served the organization
by selling candy in their communities. As they planned and
implemented their local Candy Sales, thousands of young
people have helped raise money for their councils, earned
their ways to camp, learned how to meet and greet people,
discovered how to manage their time, set goals and enjoyed
support and help from adults to help them reach their goals.
Throughout the United States, Camp Fire USA
councils conduct annual month-long Candy Sales, usually
between January and March. Proceeds are applied toward local
Camp Fire USA youth development programs such as self-reliance,
small-group mentoring and camping and environmental education.
While youth members will continue to sell
Camp Fire USA candy and take part in this unique learning
opportunity, the organization has begun offering select
candy products at its Online
Store as a service to alumni and supporters.
"We receive several phone calls and e-mails
throughout the year from individuals-often Camp Fire USA
alumni-asking if they can purchase their favorite Camp Fire
candy," said Stewart J. Smith, national CEO, Camp Fire USA.
"We are pleased to unveil this online opportunity to keep
connected with individuals who want to buy candy, but are
outside current council service areas or have missed their
local council's sale."
"Plus, this new endeavor offers yet another
benefit: resources to local Camp Fire USA councils," said
Smith.
When consumers order Camp Fire USA candy online,
a portion of their purchases directly benefits local councils,
helping youth in local programs learn about integrity, responsibility
and equality – just like buying candy from Camp Fire USA
youth members!
During the online checkout, consumers can
choose a local Camp Fire USA council to receive the proceeds
of their purchases, or – in the event that consumers do
not choose a council – the proceeds go to the councils that
serve the communities to which their purchases are shipped.
