City a day or two before the NLC begins, or stay a day or
two after it concludes, to enjoy some of our favorite spotsculture,
shopping and food included!

CROWN
CENTER
Crown
Center
is home to hotelsincluding the NLC location, Westin
Crown Center Hotel, meeting rooms, a food court, restaurants,
shops, theaters and the world headquarters of Hallmark Cards,
Inc.
Activities
you can enjoy inside the center include:
- Shopping:
Monday-Wednesday and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.;
Thursday and Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Sunday, noon
to 5:00 p.m.

Cards Visitors Center: one of the world’s most creative
companies comes to life

a hands-on art experience for people of all ages, sponsored

Union
Station
The recently renovated Union Station is joined to Crown Center
by The Link, a climate-controlled walkway. The fully restored
1914 landmark features beautiful architecture, interactive
exhibits, unique shops, an exciting IMAX theater and great
restaurants. Also, visit Science City, an innovative, hands-on
science center located within Union Station.
Nelson-Atkins
Museum of Art
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art houses more than 28,000 pieces
of art, including Claude Monet’s Water Lilies, an authentic
Chinese Temple and unique Egyptian art, and features a 22-acre
sculpture park. The museum is just a short drive from Crown
Center and admission is free.
American
Jazz Museum
The American Jazz Museum pays tribute to America’s top jazz
musicians. The story of jazz is told through sights and sounds.
The
Negro Leagues Baseball Museum
Through multimedia displays, photographs and artifacts, the
museum recreates the look, feel and sounds of Negro Leagues
Baseball from the 1860s to the 1960s. Additionally, the museum
is in the same complex as the American Jazz Museum.
HISTORY
Westport
Historic District and Battle
The birthplace of Kansas City, the Westport historic district
features some of Kansas City's oldest buildings, now home
to shops, dining and nightlife. Take a self-guided walking
tour of the Battle of Westport, the October 1864 "Gettysburg
of the West."
Liberty
Memorial
Located within walking distance of Crown Center, the newly
restored Liberty Memorial stands as a tribute to those who
served in World War I. Admissions are charged for both the
tower and museum.
SHOPPING
Country
Club Plaza
Visit Kansas City’s premier retail, dining and entertainment
destinationan outdoor museum of romantic Spanish architecture
and European art, offering 150 shops and dozens of restaurants.
Zona
Rosa
This unique outdoor entertainment and shopping district is
located at the northwest corner of I-29 and Barry Road, just
minutes from KCI airport and downtown Kansas City.
DINING
You
can’t come to Kansas City without enjoying some world famous
barbecue! Arthur Bryants,
Gates or Jack
Stack are all local favs not far from the NLC hotel.
If you are in the mood for a sit-down dinner and feel like
a Kansas City Strip, try the Hereford
House, Majestic Steakhouse
or Plaza III, also just
a short cab ride from the hotel.
