NLC
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT
We have
great news to share about Camp Fire USA's first National
Leadership Conference!
Mrs.
Laura Bush Serves as Honorary Chair
Mrs.
Laura Bush has graciously agreed to serve as the Honorary
Chair of Camp Fire USA's first National Leadership Conference
(NLC), October 27-30, in Kansas City, Mo.
Mrs. Bush
has been commended for her ongoing efforts to make children
and youth a national priority, particularly for her emphasis
on those youth most in need through the White House's Helping
America's Youth initiative. The President and Mrs. Bush believe
every American has an opportunity to help children and youth
in their families and community to avoid trouble and lead
more hopeful lives.
Community
organizations across the nation are among those involved in
efforts to reach at-risk youth and get them involved in their
communities. As we know, Camp Fire USA is a leader in these
efforts emphasizing the importance of family, academic readiness
and community. In turn, the federal government plays an important
role by pursuing policies that help Camp Fire and other organizations
continue our work.
We are
honored to be joined by the White House and Mrs. Bush in a
nationwide movement to help youth reduce risky behaviors and
reach their full potential.
Due to
the Helping America's Youth conference which will be held
in Washington, DC, the same weekend as the NLC, Mrs. Bush
will be with us in spirit, but not in person. Look for messages
from Mrs. Bush at the NLC.
