Camp Fire USA & Camp El Tesoro
Alumni Reunion

April 21, 2007
at Camp El Tesoro, Granbury, TX

It doesn’t matter if it was three months, three years or thirty-five years; we want you to join us for a springtime reunion. It won’t be fancy. It won’t be formal. It will be a fun-filled day under the trees and then the stars …
We’ll start off with an Open House on Saturday afternoon. What a great opportunity for families to explore and share camp together. There will be lots to do, or you can just relax in a quiet spot and appreciate the joy of nature!
Saturday evening will be a special time for adults to recall the fun and friendships made through Camp Fire and El Tesoro. Enjoy an authentic chuckwagon dinner followed by a traditional El Tesoro council fire. You can come by yourself, with a friend or invite your significant other.
Please mark this date on your calendar. Whether you plan to visit for a few hours or stay overnight, we just want you to come back to Camp Fire and El Tesoro.

Central Puget Sound Reunion

At a recent Camp Fire Adult Weekend Retreat, some past and present volunteers brained stormed ideas on how we could all get together again, but on a larger scale.  To make this happen, we thought we would see if others would also be interested, and some how this all ended up on me!

We are throwing out the idea to have a Camp Fire reunion, open to all Camp Fire alums, their families or friends, to celoebrate Camp Fire's 100th birthday, in 2010, on an Alaska Cruise.  We thought we could work on our Camp Fire scrapbooks, sing our favorite songs, and share stories, and probably do a service project.  If you are interested, please e-mail me, lorrieann123@hotmail.com

This would be put on by Camp Fire alums, and each person would be free to do as they pleased on shore, or on the ship, but we would hope to have some place to gather while on ship to meet each other.

Chicago Camp Fire Girls, pre-World War II Era

My name is Marcia Chatelain and I am a Ph.D. candidate at Brown University. I am working on a dissertation looking at programs involving African-American girls in Chicago during the pre-World War II era. I am interested in any information on the Second Ward Camp Fire Girls of Chicago. These Camp Fire councils were affiliated with South Side churches, and one of the most prominent leaders was a Mrs. William E. King. This group was formed for African-American girls under the name Oececa.

If you or someone you know was an African-American Camp Fire Girl from the 1910s up to 1960, please contact me at marcia.chatelain@gmail.com I look forward to hearing your stories and such.
