Ray and Sondi Pace

Welcome to Camp Fire USA's Alumni Web Site!

Hello! We're Sondi and Ray Pace from Dallas, Texas. We come to you with a rich tapestry of tradition and service in Camp Fire USA that began in 1950 in a knotty-pine paneled basement of a home in Wichita, Kansas. Our Camp Fire adventure continued in Waco, Texas, two years later, where making a Raggedy Ann doll for a local orphanage taught us the value of service to others, and the joys of camping were experienced at Camp Val Verde.

When our daughters became school age, Camp Fire was our #1 choice because of the values we knew were at the heart of the Camp Fire program. We were club leaders for 15 years, from 1971-1986 in the Dallas-based Lone Star Council, watching the kids in our two clubs learn responsibility through community service, develop leadership skills and self-confidence and have fun through camping experiences and multi-cultural events.

Much to our delight, "retirement" never came. In recent years, we have organized annual council meetings, served on our local board and assisted with the National Youth Leadership Forum held in Fort Worth in August 2000. Ray served a term on the national board of trustees in the mid '90s, and Sondi is a current national trustee.

We're privileged to watch and play a supportive role with our granddaughter's club and have become, once again, thoroughly immersed in Camp Fire USA's exciting, asset-rich programming for the whole family. We truly have come full circle and hope that our grandchildren will, one day, count themselves as Camp Fire USA alumni, too!

Though our roles in Camp Fire USA have been many, our passion rests with alumni. Your stories inspire us and keep us focused on what's important--making a difference in the lives of America's kids and families. We encourage you to get involved with your fellow alumni--locally and nationally--to help Camp Fire USA reach its goal of serving 1 million participants annually in all 50 states by 2005. Camp Fire USA alumni are over 40 million strong, and we could use your help! You can start by enjoying this Web site designed especially for you.

See you inside!
