MICHAEL EISNER
Dear Absolutely Incredible Kids of America:

You may not know it, but you belong to a very special club. However, it’s a club that you’re going to get kicked out of one day. I used to belong to the club. Even you parents used to belong to the club. It’s the Great American Kids Club. The people who belong to it get to have fun, they get to learn, they get to grow, they get to make friends. And, one day, they get to move on and leave the club to become adults.

So, as a former member of the club, my advice to you is – make the most of it. This is an incredible time of your life. Every day try to learn something new, talk to someone new, try something new. This way, when the day comes that it’s time to leave the club, you’ll be able to do so with a smile on your face, having done a great job of being a kid.

Sincerely yours,
Michael D. Eisner
Ex-member of the Great American Kids Club,
Chairman and CEO of the Walt Disney Company

HELEN GURLY
Dear Camp Fire boys and girls,

We don’t know each other personally, but I hear you are an absolutely terrific group. I was a Girl Scout—didn’t make it to First Class because I kind-of tended to drown if I swam more than 15 yards, but that has nothing to do with all the wonderful things you have achieved and enjoyed! Grown-ups can be kind of a drag when commenting to younger people and I don’t want to be that! My hope would be just to congratulate you on your Absolutely Incredible Kid Day® and assume you will go on doing the same happy incredible things!

All my best wishes,
Helen Gurly Brown,
Editor-in-Chief, Cosmopolitan magazine,
International Editions

DONALD TRUMP
To the Nation's Outstanding Young People,

The day and the millennium belong to you, the future of America. Absolutely Incredible Kid Day® celebrates the true joy and spirit of our country. I am honored to contribute my thoughts.

Continue to strive and achieve and always follow your impulses and pursue your dreams. Believe in yourselves and your ability to be progressive, revolutionary and inspirational. A true sense of self will guide you far. Know that you can make an impact, you can truly change the world.

Best wishes as you continue to amaze and enhance our nation.

Sincerely,
Donald Trump

JEFF WISE
Dear Children of America,

The National Environmental Trust (NET) is writing to you on Absolutely Incredible Kid Day® to let you know that our organization is committed to ensuring that your toys and food will be safe from potentially harmful chemicals.
Things are a lot different from when your parents grew up. Today, some of the people that provide our food and make our products use all kinds of chemicals that have never been tested for how they might affect children. Because your bodies are constantly growing, you may be more sensitive to the effects of chemicals in the environment than your mom or dad and other adults are.

We want to make sure all substances are tested for their possible effects on children and that untested substances are labeled on toys and other products around the home, so that your parents can be sure everything in your world is as safe as it can be.

NET will continue to work hard to help your parents make your world toxic free, so you can grow up to be absolutely incredible and healthy adults.

Sincerely,
Jeff Wise, National Environmental Trust

RUTH BUZZI
To the Incredible Boys and Girls of America,

You know something? I think I was a pretty incredible kid growing up. I loved my parents, brothers and relatives. I helped my mother with the house, and worked for my dad in the yard. I played hard and studied hard. I never took drugs, and you know what? It all paid off!!! I've had a very successful, wonderful life and it wouldn't have happened if I hadn't have been ... you guessed it ... an incredible kid. I'm no different than you. If I could do it, YOU can do it! Respect your elders and have a great day!!

Love to all,
Ruth Buzzi

BILL COSBY

Dear Camp Fire boys and girls:

When I was a young man, I was unsure of what I wanted to become, but I knew I wanted to become something or somebody! I told my teacher that I didn't know what to do with my life. I didn't know what the various employment possibilities required, nor did I know how I could qualify to meet those requirements.

She told me that the best place to go is to the library. It is quiet; therefore I would have to be in touch with myself. If a thought occurred that I wanted to become a designer, a scientist, an engineer, a law enforcement person, go into forensic medicine, become a social worker, a househusband, an entrepreneur, a chef, a chess champion, a basketball player, a coach, a marathon runner….she could go on and on, but I got the point - the information is in the library. And, she said to me that by reading, I would be in control of my own mind - that did it, I have been reading ever since.

Sincerely,
Bill Cosby

NORM CROSBY
To the Absolutely Incredible Kids,

My sincere congratulations to all of you for your continued commitment to high ideals and for setting an example for boys and girls everywhere. At a time when young people are being accused of total disregard for faith and morals; you prove that the majority of young people today are a credit to themselves, their families and to our society. You are an inspiration to all of us!

With warmest good wishes,
Norm Crosby

Hey you incredible kids!

I'm in the kid business—and I know good ones when I meet them! My wife Shirley and I raised four beautiful daughters, and they have provided us 15 incredible grandkids. All kinds: girls and boys. So, I'm an expert!

George Washington, George Washington Carver, Abe Lincoln, Edwin Land of Polaroid, Bill Gates, President George Bush and Oprah Winfrey, were all incredible Kids themselves. They worked hard, studied hard, kept their word and told the truth, dreamed big and prayed their way to the top of their professions. You can do the same, and I believe you will.

One wonderful tip: make God your agent (commit your life into His care and guidance.) He can open doors, and not only knows tomorrow, He can change it for you! Go for it!

Pat Boone

WYNONNA JUDD
My name is Wynonna,

I’m a dreamchaser. I believe that dreams do come true. I know that if I can do it, so can you.

Remember, if you can conceive it and believe it, you can achieve it. Don't ever give up on you dreams. I won’t if you won’t. The possibilities are endless, so let’s begin.

God loves you and so do I!

LISA LOEB
Dear Special Person,

As you grow older, you will find more and more ways to make the world a better place. You could be a doctor who finds a cure for a disease, you could be a teacher who helps kids to learn about their world, or you might even travel around with a guitar and make people feel better through your music. What you choose to do is not the point—the important thing is that you try to do something that makes the world a better place. Do you know what will happen if you, anyone, or me try to make the world a better place?

The world WILL be a better place.

From,
Lisa Loeb

DOLLY PARTON
Dear Absolutely Incredible Kids:

I believe there are two most important things in your life.
Number 1.....Learn to read well.
Number 2.....Give everything you do your very best effort.

I have included a song that I wrote just for you called “Try.”

Verse 1:
I’ve chased after rainbows; I’ve captured one or two.
I’ve reached for the stars; and I have even held a few.
I’ve walked that lonesome valley, topped the mountains, soared the sky.
I’ve laughed and I have cried; but I have always tried.

Verse 2:
I’ve always been a dreamer, and dreams are special things.
But dreams are of no value if they’re not equipped with wings.
So secure yourself for climbing; make ready for the sky.
Don’t let your chance go by; you’ll make it if you try.

1st Chorus:
So try to be the first one up the mountain,
the highest flying dreamer in the sky.
And try your best to be an inspiration
for others that are still afraid and shy.
Try to make the most of every moment
‘cause if you never try, you never win.
Try each day to try a little harder
and if you fail, get up and try again.

Verse 3:
Nothing is impossible if you can just believe.
Don’t live your life in shackles when faith can be the key.
The winner’s one who keeps determination in his eyes.
Who’s not afraid to fly and not afraid to try.

2nd Chorus:
So you try to be the first one up the mountain.
And try to be the first to touch the sky.
Don’t let somebody tell you you can’t do it.
If they do, then show them it’s a lie.
And if they fail at first, just keep on trying
‘cause you are not a failure in God’s eyes.
So spread your wings and let the magic happen
‘cause you’ll never really know if you don’t try.

Tag:
The first step is the one that always hardest.
You’ll never really know if you don’t try.
So spread your wings and let the magic happen;
but you’ll never really know unless you try.

Love,
Dolly Parton

DOUGLAS PHELPS
To the Absolutely Incredible Kids of America,

We want to wish all of you a very good day! We want to encourage you all to follow your dreams and don't give up. We are living proof that dreams do come true. We have loved music all of our lives and have continued to pursue and chase it, and low and behold, in 1991, we were standing on the stage at the Grammy's receiving a Grammy Award for our Album, "Pickin' on Nashville," If we had given up somewhere along the journey, we would never have gotten there. Y'all be good to one another and have a great day!

Stay cool,
Douglas Phelps, The Kentucky Headhunters

THE STATLER BROTHERS
Dear Absolutely Incredible Kids of America,

Every night at our concerts we see kids of all ages: 5 years old; 15 years old; 50 years old. Yes, believe it or not, 50 and 60 year-olds are still kids! They still think of themselves inside as kids and those memories they made as children seem only a few short years ago.

So, all of your mommas and daddies and grandmothers and grandfathers still have a little kid living inside them somewhere and it usually comes out when they're having fun. When they're happy. When they're with people they love. When they're with you.

Cherish every day, and every memory you make, know that you are loved, because only a good sone or a good daughter can make a parent smile down deep where it really counts. Be happy and enjoy life to the fullest. You are what our lives are all about!

Your friends,
The Statler Brothers
(Harold Reid, Phil Balsley, Jimmy Fortune and Don Reid)

AARON TIPPIN

Best wishes,

DAN AKROYD
Dear Absolutely Incredible Boys and Girls of America:

You are the future. You trade that for nothing. It is irreplaceable. Life is a precious cord and you must defend it for yourself and others.

Beware the thought forms, which you put out into the real world—make them positive ones, and your dreams will grow into real life benefits and satisfactions. Negative ones unfortunately have the same power to become reality.

Start writing immediately. Your thoughts, impressions, a diary, a journal, stories, comments and letters to the newspaper and magazines and e-mails. Together, literacy and your imagination will unlock great fulfillment for you.

I love you—don't let me down,
Dan Akroyd

JASON ALEXANDER
Dear Incredible Kids
(and by the way, I never met one who wasn't)—

You are the hope of the entire world. How's that for pressure? The people I know and the ones that came before me have accomplished the following:

  1. Made guns, grenades, missiles, and very few laws to make people stop using them. We even make movies that make them look cool.
  2. Synthetically or accidentally created many new diseases.
  3. Have steadily and without concern used up vast amounts of our planet's resources.
  4. Put a gigantic hole in our protective atmosphere.
  5. Started melting the North Pole.
  6. Created governments whose policies feature greed, corruption and abuse of human rights.
  7. Found limitless ways to hurt each other.
  8. Killed off hundreds of animal species.
  9. Have turned torture, death, horror and bloodshed into acceptable entertainment.
  10. Have made God nothing more than a name by which we're allowed to destroy.

But all the above is vanquished by your smiles, your kindnesses, your dreams, your astounding minds, your compassion, your awareness, your humor, your promise. I believe you, your generation, will save the world. I truly do. You give me hope. You make me work to give you your chance. Good luck. We're all counting on you. After all, you are absolutely incredible.

Your friend,
Jason Alexander

BARRY BOSTWICK
Hey Kids,

Listen to your parents, eat something besides “fast foods” and don’t, I repeat don’t, get sucked in by the Pokemon retail “razzle dazzle!” A stick, some string, and a little imagination are all it takes!

Barry Bostwick

SPENCER CHRISTIAN
Dear Kids of America,

I would like to salute you on this special day and encourage you to do your best to become absolutely incredible kids. And, you know it’s a lot easier to be “incredible”than you might think. You don’t have to be the best in the world at everything you do, but just making a special effort to do a really good job at whatever you do will qualify you to be called “incredible.”

On this day when we recognize all of our absolutely incredible kids, I think it would be a great idea for each of you to think about things like courtesy, kindness, respect for others’ feelings, and lending a helping hand. This would be a terrific example for anybody who wants to be an absolutely incredible kid!

Have a sunny day!

Sincerely yours,
Spencer Christian, TV weather reporter, San Francisco

DICK CLARK

Sincerely,
Dick Clark

DAVID COPPERFIELD
Dear Absolutely Incredible Kids of America,

It is my pleasure to offer you words of encouragement that may be helpful to you in your present or future endeavors. Life is a challenge, and every day offer new reasons to quit or stop trying. However, it is important to remember that the easiest thing in the world is to come up with an excuse not to do something.

I found that the most important thing in my life is to stop saying, "I wish," and start saying, "I will." Whenever I pursue my dreams, I discover something astonishing—I discover myself. My secret is to consider nothing impossible and to treat possibilities as probabilities.

Remember that passion is everything. Find your passion, combine it with your gifts, and you will be unstoppable. Your hard work will make your dreams come true.

Best of luck!
David Copperfield

CINDY CRAWFORD
Dear Kids,

What can I tell you that you don’t already know? Anything is possible—you already know that. I guess I would only say to believe in yourself and trust your instincts. Only you know what’s right for you - don’t forget that. Being true to your best self is the surest way to being an incredible person.

Best of luck.

Love,
Cindy Crawford
P.S. Being punctual never hurt anybody!

TERRI HATCHER
Dear Incredible Boys and Girls of America,

As a mother and as a woman who has journeyed many places and through many experiences in my life, I'd like to encourage you, first and foremost, to LOVE yourselves. With that love, feel so much strength and security, that you can treat yourselves and all others with kindness and without judgment. Treat, even those different from you, people with whom you might disagree, with respect. Be a part of creating a safe and equal society, in which everyone can choose their own life paths. Believe in your dreams and be responsible for making them happen. Embrace hard work and try to see each stumbling block as a lesson in strength. Remember, we are never given anything that we cannot handle. Lastly, when in doubt, choose happiness.

JOANNA KERNS
Dear Boys and Girls,

As an actress I played a TV Mom for many years but my biggest role was being a Mom at home. I always taught my daughter how important an education was and to work hard for what she wanted. She graduated college last year with honors! It was the proudest day of my life. Whether or not you want to make your parents or mentors proud staying in school, making good grades, and having a positive outlook will make you succeed in life.

You can never dream too “big” or have too “many” goals to achieve for yourself.

I offer you these encouraging words in hopes you will succeed in what ever you do and know all your hard work will pay off one day.

Sincerely,
Joanna Kerns

CHAZZ PALMINTERI
Dear Incredible Boys and Girls of America,

I was born in the Bronx, New York in an Italian neighborhood. We never had a lot of money but there was much love in the house. My parents always said to me that “The saddest thing in life is wasted talent.” So back in 1989 when I was a struggling actor, my parent’s words rang in my ears. One day I started to write a play for myself to star in. That play was “A BRONX TALE.” It was a one-man show that changed my life. Until then I was an actor just trying to get a break. But I believed in myself and I knew I would never give up. Robert De Niro saw me in the play and the next thing that happened, he asked me to write the screenplay for “A BRONX TALE” and star in the movie with him.

I tell you this because I want you to know that no matter where you come from or how much money you have, you have the power to change your life and be anything you want to be. All it takes is hard work and discipline. No one could stop you if you believe in yourself. So I want my words to ring in your ears, like my parents’ did mine. Remember, the saddest thing in life is wasted talent. Don’t waste yours.

Sincerely,
Chazz Palminteri

KELLY PRESTON
To my dearest and most precious children,

I love you so dearly. Jett, you are the absolute love of my life and continue to amaze me every day with how special you are. Your kindness and heart envelope everyone who meets you. And my dear Ella, although you are not quite born yet, I have been nurturing and loving you for eight months, and your daddy and I are so excited to meet you. You have a wonderful big brother who can't wait to share his toys with you.

I love you, my two babies!

All my love,
Mommy

CHARLIE SCHLATTER
My dearest Julia,

Eighteen months ago, an absolutely incredible prayer was answered. You were delivered to us from heaven. And from that blessed day forth, Mommy and Daddy's life together has become more and more meaningful. Your mere existence shows the absolutely incredible capacity for love, peace and beauty this life on earth has to offer. With you in this world, all things seem possible and all things seem to make sense. As your father, I can only hope that you, too, experience the absolutely incredible joy you have enables me to feel.

With all my deepest love,
Daddy
(Charlie Schlatter)

VIN SCULLY
Dear Incredible Boys and Girls,

I am honored and delighted to have an opportunity to visit the special place called your childhood. It is a precious time in your lives and one that can be visited only once. Use it for fun and games, laughter, friendship and for dreaming but it is of great importance that during that time, you learn self-discipline, morality, good work habits, and consideration of others along the way.
You have but one life and a world of opportunity before you. Seize the chance and never let go. We all wish to be successful but success does not come cheaply. Start today and not tomorrow. Remember, too, that we all fall down along the way - and get up - and keep going. Above all, stay in school even again all odds and work. Do your best and don't allow distraction, carelessness, fatigue, or other people from preventing you from reaching your goals. Good health and time are the most important gifts that have been given to you. Guard the first with all your might and spend the other as wisely as possible. You can do it!

May God bless you,
Vin Scully, Sportscaster

CONNIE SELLECCA
To all the Incredible Boys and Girls of America,

"Just do it!" is a popular phrase that we have all heard usually associated with a pair of sneakers or shoes. How poignant that phrase really is to all you boys and girls no matter what your age. You CAN do it...no matter what "it" is! Never give up. Keep trying to do whatever you wish to accomplish in life. Let "just do it" be your motto, and you efforts will pay off. And remember, the Lord will give you the support you need. Just ask HIM!

With love and encouragement,
Connie Sellecca

CHARLES SHAUGHNESSY
Dear Kids,

When you think about it, we're all absolutely incredible kids, it's just some of us have been kids longer than others, so we call some "adults." Just being who you are, the miracle of life that you are, makes you absolutely incredible. And that won't change for as long as you live. Whether you become in time the kind of incredible kid that cures cancer or holds down a job to support a family, or walks on the moon, or keeps an office building safe and secure, remember, that just because you might look a bit different, you are still and always will be that same absolutely incredible kid.

Have a great life,
Charles Shaughnessy

Dear Absolutely Incredible Boys and Girls,

How nice to get a chance to greet you in person! Hope you are having a wonderful time and enjoying your accomplishments.
This is just a reminder of something I'm sure you already know: As busy as you get, it's sometimes easy to forget what a great adventure reading can be. Always make time for it because through reading you can go wherever you wish to go-anywhere in the world and beyond.

In the meantime—much love,

OPRAH WINFREY
Dear Incredible Boys and Girls of America,

Please know that it is very important to dream BIG and work hard toward reaching your goals. You can achieve all of your dreams through knowledge, but also know that you can gain knowledge through education.

Work hard in school and make the best grades you can. Remember that success starts with you and it can start right now. You can do whatever your heart desires. Don't ever let anyone or anything hold you back from doing your very best.

Stay in school!

HENRY WINKLER
Hi everyone!!!

There is a great Chinese proverb: "The flowers of all tomorrows rest in the seeds of today."

Believe it or not, you are the most important people on earth because you are the earth's future. What action you decide to take as individuals and as a group will help to create what our future looks like. Each one of you has personal power inside you and it is as easy to be positive as it is to be negative. I have faith in you even without knowing you. Self respect is the beginning and the end of real joy. Work on yourselves, learn to really like yourselves and the WORLD IS YOURS! Be bold and take it …

I send you all lots of affection!
Henry Winkler

JOANNE WOODWARD
Dear Incredible Kids,

Yes, you are incredible, but in order to remain so you must work at it.

Stay in school, respect your teachers, learn to enjoy reading. Reading for enjoyment lasts a lifetime. It improves your ability to learn and also provides companionship so that you never need to say “I’m lonely” or “I’m bored.”

Be happy. Keep a smile on your face. Your happy nature will spread to others.

With these tools you will always be Incredible!

Hope and hugs to you all!
Joanne Woodward

I profess my unabashed love for all of you as though you are members of my "ohana," which in Hawaiian means "family" in the deepest and all encompassing sense of the word. I give you my unconditional love as though you are in my ohana of 5 children, 14 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. It is a love that you deserve for all the happiness you bring to the world.

For all the love that you receive, please keep in mind that your love means so much to us. It fills our heart with joy and happiness. It recalls to me the happy childhood that I had, a childhood in which love from family and friends made the day.

As my wife and I live our lives today, our home is filled with the voices and laughter of our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who come and go; to visit, to dine, sometimes to live with us for a while, then go, then come back again. Love makes this possible.

Have a great Absolutely Incredible Kid Day®. You are Incredible!

Aloha pumehana,
Daniel K. Akaka, United States Senator (Hawaii)

To America's Children,

I would like to honor you today by recognizing how uniquely special each and every one of you are. It is my hope that you will never doubt your parents’ love for you and that you will never be discouraged from following your dreams.

I have also been deeply rewarded by passing laws and working to make life better for families across the nation.

My wish for each of you is that you will know the warmth of a loving family and that you will always have the encouragement and imagination to follow your dreams.

PETER DEFAZIO
Dear Kids:

March 17, 2005, is your day! Camp Fire USA has declared this date "Absolutely Incredible Kid Day®." I am pleased to let you know I think you are great.

As a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, I hear wonderful reports about kids every day. I am constantly amazed at your caring spirit, hard work, and creative energy. Kids with problems tend to make the headlines, but I know for every troubled child, there are dozens of kids like you working hard to make your community a better place.

Children are the most precious asset in our communities. I want to let you know just how much I appreciate the special qualities that you bring to our lives. Your energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to making our world a better place inspires me. Without your help and ideas, we could not make improvements in our cities, schools, and neighborhoods.

CHRISTOPHER DODD
To America's Absolutely Incredible Kids:

Absolutely Incredible Kid Day® was created so that there would be one day out of the year when we would pay special attention to America's most precious resource: you! Some of you may think that you are just a kid or just a student; you are that and much more.

Each of you has the potential to do anything you set your mind to. You are the leaders of tomorrow, but you can also be leaders today. Don't wait until you grow up to make a difference. Parents, teachers, and other adults are there to support you. If there is a problem in your school or community, do something about it now.

I'm excited by stories that I hear about our nation's young leaders. Some people think that today's generation of youth doesn't care about their communities. I know that over half of young people volunteer and are making a difference each and every day. You more than care, you are taking action to create a change. And in the process, you are gaining the knowledge and skills that will keep our nation healthy and strong in this new millennium.

I'm very proud of you; your spirit and generosity is a model for others to follow!

Wishing you all the best,
Senator Christopher Dodd

THELMA DRAKE
Dear Children of America,

Do you realize that you are the future of America and the future of our world? It is a big job and sometimes a scary thought but you can do it. Each and every one of you is a very special and very unique person. There is only one of you ever and each of you has very special gifts. That means you must do your best to get the best education and the best experiences so that you are ready to be our greatest leaders and our greatest generation. Thank you for being ready for this challenge.

You are bright, you are energetic, you care about our world and you are ready to leave your mark. Listen to your parents and the adults around you who love you and want what is best for you. Learn all that you can and take advantage of all opportunities. Ask deep within yourself what you love to do and truly care about-that is your calling.

Play hard, laugh deeply, marvel at the wonders of the world, give your best and then more, and know in your heart you have a very special job to do.

America loves you, we want the best of you and we look forward to your contributions to our country and to the world.

Sincerely,
Thelma Drake, Member of Congress (Virginia)

You are our most precious gift, and we adults are truly blessed to know children with such energy, excitement, and unique talents. Take advantage of the help and instruction from your parents and teachers so that you can meet the challenges of the future.

You are a valuable resource to us, and we cannot build a better society without your help. With each new lesson you learn and each new achievement you accomplish, you show us each day how truly incredible you are.

The lessons you have learned so far about life, about setting and achieving goals, will help ensure your success in whatever you decide to do in the future. We are here to help you in any way that we can. We are confident that you will grow to be our future leaders, capable of meeting every new challenge and inspiring us to do better.

MICHAEL B. ENZI
To Some Incredible Kids on their Incredible Day:

It's good to have this chance to share some thoughts with you on Absolutely Incredible Kid Day® this year.

What makes kids incredible are the little things you do every day that make being a kid fun.

I hope you are being challenged in school, studying hard and learning all you can - because that's part of being an incredible kid! I also hope you are enjoying your after school time and participating fully in activities and clubs both at your school and at church or wherever they are most available to you - because that's part of being an incredible kid, too.

There's Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts and organizations like Camp Fire USA. These groups and many more are excited about you and your dreams and they would like to help you grow up to become anything you want to be in life. Now is the time for you to dare to dream and to imagine yourself as a doctor, or a fireman, or an astronaut, or the president - or anything you want to be - because an incredible kid like you can make it happen!

Above all, be good to your brothers and sisters, help your Mom and Dad by doing your chores, and do as much as you can with your family - because that's the best part about being a kid. Your family loves you and they're the greatest gift you will ever have in your life. Whenever you have a problem you can always get some good advice about what to do from your Mom and Dad or your teachers. They all want nothing but the best for you - and with their support, you'll always be an incredible kid!

Sincerely,
Michael B. Enzi, United States Senator (Wyoming)

LANE EVANS
Dear Absolutely Incredible Kids:

Congratulations on having your very own special day! You deserve it. When I travel around Illinois, I am always amazed at how smart, talented, and just plain incredible you are. In Galesburg, Decatur, East Moline, or any of the towns and cities in between, you all make me so proud to be able to say that you're from my district.

No matter what you decide to be when you grow up, always remember that you can do anything you set your mind to. Different people are good at different things - that's what makes us all so unique. Whether you want to be an astronaut, police officer, artist, teacher, or congressman, all it takes is some hard work and determination.

You also need to work extra hard in school, and try to enjoy it as much as you can. I remember the excitement of learning new things - exploring science and math, discovering new books and art, enjoying our history and civics. I certainly hope you make a strong commitment to doing well in school because what you learn now is so important to your future goals, aspirations, and dreams.

Thank you for making western and central Illinois as great as it is today. Good luck with everything you do!

Sincerely,
Lane Evans, Member of Congress (Illinois)

DIANNE FEINSTEIN
Dear Absolutely Incredible Kids of America,

It is a great pleasure to wish all the children of America a happy Absolutely Incredible Kid Day®.

In my work in California and Washington, D.C., I am very fortunate to see the efforts and accomplishments of so many of our nation's young people. You are all an inspiration to me. All of you have so much promise and potential, and there is no limit to what you can achieve. If there is one thing I would want you to know, it would be that each of you are special and important and that you have so much to offer our nation and the world.

You are our future, and I am very excited to see all the great things you will achieve as you continue to work hard in school and help out in your communities. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Sincerely yours,
Dianne Feinstein, United States Senator (California)

MARTIN FROST
Dear Absolutely Incredible Kid:

First and foremost you should be very proud of yourself! This is truly a great achievement.

Adults do not always tell kids how important they are, and that is why it is such an honor for me to write you this very special letter. You are an interesting and unique person. Always remember that there is only one person in the world like you, and that is you! If you put your mind to it, you can do anything.

Sometimes life is very hard for kids, and they get discouraged and lose sight of their dreams. Don't let that happen to you. No matter what, continue to know how special you are, and what an inspiration you can be to others if you maintain a positive attitude. I encourage you to get involved in your school and community, and to help others. My favorite thing about being a U.S. Congressman is that I have the opportunity to help so many different people.

Always remember that you can do incredible things.

Sincerely,
Martin Frost, Member of Congress (Texas)

JOHN GLEN
To the Boys and Girls of America on
Absolutely Incredible Kid Day®
!

Dear Children,

It is nearly spring, and time for plants to sprout and flowers to bloom. There are new friends to meet and all kinds of interesting things to do. In my childhood, spring was the time of year I looked forward to with anticipation and delight but I never seemed to have enough time for all the fun and wonderful things I wanted to do. And, like other children, along with the fun came responsibilities of chores and schoolwork, I know at times it seems like hard work just being a kid.

So make sure that all of you take the time this spring to be a kid. Besides, it's fun to be a kid; it's neat to be a kid; and most of all, we adults love it when kids are being kids. Whether at school with your studies or at the park on a swing, you can use your imagination to explore your dreams and make every day a new and wonderful adventure in life.

My wife Annie and I are very proud of our nation’s young people and we encourage each end every one of you to make your childhood as exciting and fun as possible, and with the confidence in knowing that you are all absolutely incredible kids!

Sincerely,
John Glenn, Former astronaut and United States Senator

MIKE HONDA
Dear Children,

As a former schoolteacher, I truly enjoyed teaching science to high school students. I discovered that not only was I teaching my students, but I was learning from them as well. Even today as a Member of Congress, some of my most cherished memories are the times that I get to spend with the youth of America. You constantly amaze me with your inquisitive nature and sense of adventure.

Take these qualities and expand on them by learning about yourself and others. One of the greatest gifts I've received was the ability to grow up in an area that was culturally rich. Not only have I discovered a love for travel, foreign languages and culture, but also I've learned valuable lessons and had my fair share of adventures in the process. Remember to take time as a kid and enjoy yourself. Spend time getting to know other people by playing sports and exploring your artistic capabilities through art, music and dance. Above all, have fun doing things that you like.

In these uncertain times, look to your parents for strength and remember that it is through education, tolerance and appreciation of diversity that peace is achieved. It is my hope that you will get to grow up in a world that is peaceful and where all people are cherished.

Enjoy Absolutely Incredibly Kid Day®, each and every one of you is an incredible person, with amazing gifts to bestow on your community and the world.

Sincerely,
H
Mike Honda Member of Congress (California)

KAY BAILEY HUTCHISON (1)
To all our Absolutely Incredible Kids:

I just wanted to take a moment today to let you know how wonderful I think you are. It is the contributions that you make to your community and our country that make all the difference to those of us working here in Washington, D.C. In fact, it is how absolutely incredible you are that inspires us.

As Members of Congress, these recent months, especially, have made us appreciate the inspiration and effort of those from our home communities even more. I know that I personally have gained much energy from the examples set not only by the heroes in New York and Washington, D.C., and those fighting in Afghanistan, but also from the strength and spirit of average Americans.

As we move forward, my goal as your Senator is to continue to work toward assuring that you and youth across the country have access to the resources necessary to become successful and productive individuals. That is why I have worked to make certain that the laws we create in the U.S. Senate will improve our schools, preserve the environment, protect our national security, and help to ensure that our economy remains strong.

While I continue my work in Washington, D.C., I will be thinking of you. I am proud of you, and I appreciate all that you contribute to your community to make sure that it is the best that it can be.

Sincerely,
Kay Bailey Hutchinson, United States Senator (Texas)

KAY BAILEY HUTCHISON (2)
To All Absolutely Incredible Kids:

Thank all of you for allowing me to participate in the annual Absolutely Incredible Kid Day® celebration. I want to offer you my sincere congratulations. I am proud of you!

It is a great honor for me to represent our state in the United States Senate, and as your Senator, I want to continue to work toward ensuring that all of you and youth across the country have access to the resources necessary to become successful and productive individuals. That is why I have worked to make certain that the laws we create in the U.S. Senate will improve our schools, preserve the environment, protect our national security, and help to ensure that our economy remains strong. You are Absolutely Incredible and deserve the best!

As you continue your education, I want to extend my best wishes as you undertake the challenges and opportunities which lie ahead. I hope you will always choose worthy and lofty goals, and I want to assure you that with hard work, determination and a good attitude, you can reach those goals.

Achieving your goals will be easier if you develop good reading skills. I was inspired to pursue my dreams in life through reading. Even when I was in elementary school, I loved to read. Biographies have always held the biggest attraction for me. I think reading about George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and many others, greatly influenced me. Reading provides a window on the world. There's nothing real or imagined that can't be found in a book.

I'm glad to share in your special day, and send you my best wishes for much future success.

Sincerely,
Kay Bailey Hutchison, United States Senator (Texas)

JESSE L. JACKSON, JR.
Please let all of the children and volunteers of Camp Fire USA know that I wish them a happy Absolutely Incredible Kid Day®!

Let the children of Camp Fire USA know that they, and all American children, are loved and can do anything. If they are committed to being a part of a global community and meeting with children of all backgrounds and nationalities, then they will help to build a world where every child can thrive.

Once again, happy Absolutely Incredible Kid Day®! I am confident that young people are part of a generation with so much promise and potential.

Sincerely,
Jesse L. Jackson, Jr., Member of Congress (Illinois)

JIM JEFFORDS
Dear Absolutely Incredible Kid:

Do you know why you are so absolutely incredible? There is no one else in the world that is like you. Think of it, there are almost 300 million people in America, and almost 6 billion people in the world. But, there is not a single person that is exactly like you. And do you know what that means? It means that you are special, and that you can do things that no one else can. If you put your mind to it, you can do anything.

I'm writing this letter because I want to remind each young person in this country just how special you are. You have parents, friends, family members, and a country that loves and cares for you very much. As a Senator in the United States Congress, I fight each day for laws that will help you. I believe in you, and most of all, I want you to believe in yourself.

I have a small piece of advice for you. Try each day to help someone. It can be something large or small, it doesn't really matter. Maybe a friend needs a pencil because their's broke, or maybe Dad needs help taking out the garbage, or maybe someone you know is feeling sad and you can tell them a joke to make them feel better. Helping people can give you the best feeling ever.

I wish you all the best!
Senator Jim Jeffords (Vermont)

TIM JOHNSON
Dear Absolutely Incredible Kids:

Congratulations on Absolutely Incredible Kid Day®. This is your special day, take advantage of it!

As a child, you have the opportunity to set your sites on a goal and work to reach it. If you wish to be an astronaut, actor or actress, writer, teacher or President of the United States, you can reach that goal by dedicating yourself and working hard in school.

Every day, children make an important impact on the world around them. By cleaning your room, watching your younger brother or sister, or helping your teacher wash the blackboards at the end of the day, you can make a difference in the lives of others around you.

Again, congratulations and best wishes on your special day!

Sincerely,
Tim Johnson, United States Senator (South Dakota)

JON KYL
It is a pleasure to participate in Camp Fire USA's "Absolutely Incredible Kid Day®." I have four grandchildren, and I know they need a lot of love and encouragement. To the children of America, I just want to commend them for helping others, for working hard in school, and for being the kind of individuals that their parents and teachers can be proud of.

I thought I might share with them, too, the words of someone who served before me in the United States Senate, Richard Russell:

"I cannot do much, said the little star,
to make the dark world bright.
My silver beams cannot pierce
far into the gloom of night.
Yet - I am part of God's plan,
And I will do the best I can."

Here's hoping that each and every one of the children reached by your campaign has an absolutely incredible "Absolutely Incredible Kid Day®" on March 20.

Sincerely,
Jon Kyl, United States Senator (Arizona)

BARBARA A. MIKULSKI
Dear Absolutely Incredible Kids:

Congratulations!! I'm proud to know that such Absolutely Incredible Kids are out there! I know that you are working hard in school and out of school, doing your homework and playing on sports teams and pitching in to help your parents around the house. And I know that your parents, grandparents, and teachers are proud of you.

I want you to know that if you work hard, you can achieve any goal you set for yourself in life. I want you to know that I am on you side, fighting here in Washington D.C. to pass laws that will make a bright future for you. That way, you have the opportunity to become anything you want to be. I also want you to know that if you make it one of your goals to help others, you will also help to strengthen our country. If you help someone out, cheer them up, or lend a hand in any way, you are not only making a difference in you community, you are on your way to becoming fine Americans!

I believe that courage and a strong will are central to reaching your full potential. Hold on to the values you believe in, and then work hard to make your goals a reality. Remember that you are unique and special, and that even the smallest kind deeds make a great difference.

Thanks for being you, and have a great Absolutely Incredible Kid Day®!

Sincerely,
Barbara A. Mikulski, United States Senator (Maryland)

DENNIS MOORE
Dear Absolutely Incredible Kid Day®:

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to write to you today. Children are the future of America and are one of our most crucial resources. It is my honor to extend my praise for America's youth to the Camp Fire USA and Absolutely Incredible Kid Day® programs.

I have great confidence in our nation's children. As a grandfather of four and with one more on the way, I know America is in capable hands. It is part of my job as Congressman to help our kids receive the best possible education and support from their families, to ensure bright futures.

I believe that we live in the greatest country in the whole world. We have personal, political, and economic rights and freedoms that are just dreams to most people around the world. Faith in American children continues to propel our nation in a promising direction, and I know we can keep this spirit of patriotism alive. The United States will continue to be a wonderful place to live because our kids will look for ways to demonstrate their patriotism.

Thank you again for taking the time to contact me. I know the Camp Fire USA program, along with Absolutely Incredible Kid Day®, makes a daily difference in the lives of children and I commend your efforts.

Very truly yours,

PATTY MURRAY
Dear Absolutely Incredible Kid:

Congratulations on being one absolutely incredible kid! Pat yourself on the back. Shake a friend's hand. Give out a yell of excitement. You are amazing!

It's not every day that adults take the time to express their support for kids. That's why I'm thrilled to write this letter of encouragement to you. You are very special, and you have the ability to do anything.

Sometimes obstacles will get in the way of your aspirations. Don't let that stop you. Before I became a United States Senator, I volunteered for my local school. The government was going to cut money for our school. I was told that I couldn't make a difference. I didn't let that stop me! I worked with other parents and we saved funding for our school. To this day, I continue to fight for what I believe in, and you should do the same. If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish astonishing things.

You are up to the challenge!

Sincerely,
Patty Murray, United States Senator (Washington)

IN CELEBRATION OF THE SIXTH ANNUAL CAMP FIRE USA ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE KID DAY® March 21, 2002

I am pleased to join so many others in writing letters of encouragement to our Nation's young people.

As the President has said, "Our children, who are today dreaming big dreams and who are filled with hope, will someday serve as leaders in government, industry, education, and the arts." Each of you has unique gifts to offer. As Secretary of Education, I often speak to adults about the importance of helping children develop their gifts and nurture their dreams. The people who are writing these letters to you - people from your own community and people from across the country - believe in you and want you to make positive choices, choices that will take full advantage of the potential each of you has.

I believe that a good education is the greatest gift you can give yourself. Education is a key that turns dreams into reality. Committing yourself - each and every day - to your studies will serve you well for the rest of your life. I encourage you to find an area of study and career interest about which you are passionate and continue to set high goals for yourself. As you work hard, you will learn about yourself and discover personal resources you never knew you possessed.

I know that we can look for great things from you in the future. Please accept m
