Camp Fire Heartland
Impact in the Greater Kansas City Area
Youth and families in the greater Kansas City area are served by the Camp Fire Heartland. Collaborating with more than a dozen local partners, over five hundred youth and their families benefit weekly from the various out-of-school-time and self-reliance programs in addition to service-learning and outdoor education opportunities.
Camp Fire Heartland serves as an innovation center to beta test promising practices from other Camp Fire councils, and new programs and curricula, establishing best practices to disseminate nationally.

Program Opportunities
Before- and After-School Programs
Camp Fire Heartland partners with the Kansas City, Kansas Unified School District and KCMO School sites to provide fun, engaging and outcome-rich programs in before- and after-school settings.
Club Programs
Club programs meet approximately once a month and engage youth and families in small group settings. These groups complete Camp Fire curriculum; participate in service-learning activities; and go on group adventures, learning and exploring together.
The Adventure Fitness club is designed for children and youth with disabilities to participate in physical fitness and life skills activities. The majority of the participants are blind or visually impaired while others have physical or developmental disabilities.
Teens in Action Programs
Middle, high school, and college students work through a service-learning curriculum while being advised by a trained adult staff member or volunteers. Teens are given the tools and empowered to make a real difference in their communities.
Hold On to Health and Community Education Programs
Health and safety education workshops and activities designed to ensure kids have the skills and information they need to grow into self-reliant adults.
