Chief Development Officer

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Chief Development Officer will be responsible for setting and ensuring achievement of the goals of a comprehensive funding strategy; to ensure effectiveness and sustainability system wide. This individual will partner closely with the National Board of Trustees; the President and CEO, and Camp Fire council executives in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of significant philanthropic and corporate investment both to benefit national headquarters as well as the entire council network. Two full time positions report to the CDO: (1). Senior Development Officer and (2). Grant writer. Additional staff support is available, as well.
The Chief Development Officer will build on 10+ years' experience in national non-profit fund raising, preferably within youth development. Of particular importance is demonstrated experience in gaining funding from major national and regional foundations, successful grant development, major event sponsorship, and the identification and cultivation of high-impact corporate and individual donors. Essential factors for selection are the creativity, communications and interpersonal abilities to develop and passionately communicate Camp Fire's vision and value proposition to funders. As a headquarters employee representing Camp Fire nationwide, the successful candidate must demonstrate a high degree of business and organizational acumen and present him or herself in a very polished and professional manner. This position will require approximately 60% national travel, and the candidate selected should be based near a major US airport. The successful candidate will possess a minimum of an undergraduate degree, with a CFRE preferred. Must have experience with Raiser's Edge or similar donor management software. Above all, the drive for the achievement of significant, measurable and stretch funding goals is essential.
